Great people: Mary Shelley.

Mary Wollstonecraft Shelley Godwin was born on August 30, 1797, in London, England.

Her mother died and Mary was raised by her father.

Mary Shelley was an English writer. She wrote her famous Gothic novel Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus (1818).

Mary Shelley had spouse and children.

She died on February 1, 1851, in London, England.

Deucalion.

Deucalion (Δευκαλίων) was the character in Greek myths and legends. Prometheus (Προμηθεύς) and Clymene (Κλυμένη) were his parents.

Deucalion was king of Phthia in Thessaly.

Pyrrha (Πύρρα) was his wife. They had several children.

There are different works about this mythological character.

Great people: Johann Wolfgang von Goethe.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was born on August 28, 1749, in the Holy Roman Empire. His parents were Johann Caspar Goethe and Katharina Elisabeth Goethe.

Johann Wolfgang von Goethe was a German writer. He studied in universities. His famous works: “Prometheus” (1772-1774), Faust (1774-1831), Wilhelm Meister’s Apprenticeship (1795), and etc.

Goethe had a wife and children.

He died on March 22, 1832, in the German Confederation.

Heracles.

 Heracles (Ἡρακλῆς) was a hero in Greek legends. His father was Zeus (Ζεύς,), his mother was Alcmene (Ἀλκμήνη). 

Heracles was born in Thebes (Θῆβαι). He performed 12 labors. Heracles met with monsters and creatures. His symbols were weapon club and lion skin.

There are many myths about this hero. When Heracles was a baby, he strangled snakes. Also, he was in the campaign of the Argonauts, freed Prometheus (Προμηθεύς,), and participated in the Trojan War.

Heracles had different relations with other gods and goddesses, such as: Perseus (Περσεύς), Eirene (Εἰρήνη,), Artemis (Ἄρτεμις), Eileithyia (Εἰλείθυια), Eurystheus (Εὐρυσθεύς,), and etc. 

Heracles had several wives and children.

After death he lived with gods.

Pandora's box.

 Pandora (Πανδώρα,) was created by Hephaestus. She was the first human woman. Hephaestus created her under the instructions of Zeus. Her name means "all-giving".

Pandora had relationships with gods and goddesses, such as: Athena, Hermes, and Aphrodite. They gave her different gifts.

Epimetheus became Pandora's husband. He was a titan. His brothers were Prometheus, Atlas, and Menoetius.

One day Pandora knew about box or jar pithos (πίθος) in a house. It was closed. But Pandora was very curious.

She opened this jar. There were death, sickness, and many other evils which appeared in the world. When Pandora closed the box just hope left there.

Pandora's box became an idiom. "Open a Pandora's box" meaning do something negative or problematic.

Many artists painted different paintings about this myth. Sculptors created statues of characters of this legend.

Atlas.

Atlas was a Titan in Ancient Greek mythology. His parents were Iapetus and Clemene.

Legends say that Atlas holds the sky. It was condemn from Zeus. Titan met with Heracles and Perseus.

Also, Atlas had a wife Pleione and several children. His siblings were Prometheus, Epimetheus, Menoetius.

There are many statues and paintings about this Titan.

Prometheus.

Prometheus was a son of Iapetus and Clemene. There myths and legends that he created people.

God stole fire from Hephaestus and lied to Zeus. So, Prometheus was chained to the rock in the mountains. Eagle ate his liver many times.

At the end Heracles killed the bird and freed Prometheus.

This character was popular in different arts of history.
