Literature. Part ninety five.

                                                    “The Nightingale and the Rose” by Oscar Wilde.

Once upon a time there was a young man. He was a student. The student was in love with a young girl.

He wanted to give her a red rose. But this flower wasn’t in his garden.

Nightingale decided to help the student with a red rose. For this he sang, but then the bird died.

The student took the flower and went to the girl. But she rejected the rose and the student.

Literature. Part eighty seven.

                                              "The Loveliest Rose in the World" by Hans Christian Andersen.

Once upon a time there was a queen. She had a garden with many different roses.

When the queen became very ill, she needed the loveliest rose in the world. Then everyone who could went to the queen with different roses, but there was no such rose.

The flower continued to be search for, but still to no avail. People have already to speculate where this rose might be. There were some versions.

Suddenly, the queen's son entered the room. He read a book to his mother, and then a rose grew there. It was the loveliest rose in the world.

Narcissus.

Narcissus (Νάρκισσος) was a hunter in Greek myths and legends. His parents were Cephissus (Κηφισός) and Liriope (Λιριόπη).

The young man was very beautiful person. Many different people were in love with him, but Narcissus rejected them all. He loved himself very much.

Echo (Ἠχώ) was a mountain nymph, an Oread (Ὀρειάς). She met Narcissus in the forest, Echo fell in love with him, but Narcissus didn't love Echo. So, all that was left of her was Echo's voice.

Narcissus admired his reflection in the river and drowned in it. In place of his body, a narcissus flower grew.

Hyacinth.

 Hyacinth (Ὑάκινθος) (Huákinthos) was a hero in Greek mythology. He was popular in Sparta.

Oebalus (Οἴβαλος), king of Sparta, was Hyacinth's father. Or his father was Pierus (Πίερος). His mother was Clio (Κλειώ) or Diomedes (Διομήδη).

Hyacinth was a very beautiful prince. He was admired by Zephyrus, west wind. Also, Hyacinth had relationships with Apollo (Ἀπόλλων).

Spartan prince was killed by Apollo. He accidentally hit Hyacinth with a discus.

There is a plant named Hyacinth.

Literature. Part thirty nine.

                                                 "Thumbelina" by Hans Chistian Andersen.

Once upon a time, there was a woman who had no children. So, she decided to go to a witch. She gave the woman a seed.

Several days later the flower grew. It turned into a girl. Woman gave things for Thumbelina. They were happy!

But one night a toad stole a child. She wanted Thumbelina to marry her son. Little Thumbelina cried. She didn't want to marry. Kind fishes and butterflies helped Thumbelina run away.

Suddenly her saw a beetle. He took Thumbelina. When they appeared in the beetle's community... poor girl didn't like anyone.

So, Thumbelina lived in the forest until winter. Afterwards, a mouse sheltered her. She wanted to marry Thumbelina to a mole. Meanwhile little girl cared for a swallow.

At the wedding day Thumbelina and swallow ran away. She married an elf. They lived together.
