Memory.

Memory is the recollection of something that is in the past. Something is quickly forgotten. But sometimes a person learns a lesson and remembers it for the rest of their life.

Also, memory helps in learning. Rules need to be remembered well and when needed to be recalled.

Memory comes in different forms.

Mnemosyne.

Mnemosyne (Μνημοσύνη) was the goddess of memory in Ancient Greece. She was a Titaness.

Uranus (Οὐρανός) and Gaia (Γαῖα) were Mnemosyne's parents. Also, she had several siblings. Among them were Titans, Cyclopes, and other creatures, gods, and goddesses.

Mnemosyne was Zeus's wife. They had nine children, Muses: Calliope (epic poetry), Clio (history), Euterpe (lyric poetry), Erato (love poetry), Melpomene (tragedy), Polyhymnia (hymns), Terpsichore (dance), Thalia (comedy), Urania (astronomy).

There are myths and legends about this goddess.

Artists and sculptors created paintings and sculptures about Mnemosyne, goddess of memory.

Tales from childhood: Granny's memory.

Sophie wanted to have chocolate cake for dessert for after dinner. But they had a lot of cookies. Grandmother gave them to the child.

But little Sophie told about her wish. Granny became sad. Maybe she remembered something important.

Several minutes later she returned. Grandmother talked with Sophie about her childhood. It was very hard time. They worked often. Desserts were only on holidays.

Sophie understood that it was really hard time. After she ate her cookies with pleasure.
