Tales from childhood: Father and child.
Timothy had a father. But he didn't interest of his son's life.
"My son himself will write me a letter someday or come." he said.
Many people were very surprised by these words.
"I don't know who you are talking about." that's what Timothy said when someone talked about his father.
Timothy lived well at the boarding school, next to his distant relative Maria.
"It's good that Timothy lived and grew up with Maria." Sophie thought.

Tales from childhood: Sophie and her different friends.
Sophie had many different friends. One of them was a boy from the yard. They knew each other for a long time.
He studied well at school. Also, this boy attended several clubs of interest.
By his nature, he was very impressionable. If he watched some bright show, then he worried for a long time. This boy said about it.
"He just has that kind of personality" Sophie's mother said.
Sophie agreed with this, because he was always so emotional.
At the same time, other people reacted differently to such situations.

Tales from childhood: Sophie and her old friends.
When Sophie was a little child, she had many different friends. Sophie’s friends lived near her or studied in one school. Some of them taught Sophie how to play hide-and-seek; others suggested fun places in the city.
Several years later Sophie understood that she forgot about many friends during this time.
“It happens that some of your friends are for from you that are why you stopped communicating.” grandmother said.
“I understand,” Sophie said.
Indeed, many of Sophie’s classmates have moved on to other schools after elementary grades. Some friends from the yard moved to new houses and apartments.
Now Sophie had new friends, they were somehow different from her old childhood friends. But at the same time she had one old friend from early childhood. She was a daughter of her mother’s colleague.
She was a simple good young girl. She was an example for many other children.

Tales from childhood: Decide yourself.
It was a Friday morning. Sophie went to school. Two days ago her teacher said that she won’t be on Friday. Little Sophie remembered about it.
When she entered the classroom, the children were talking loudly. There was no one in teacher’s place. The students felt free, they just wanted to have fun.
Suddenly, one boy who had problems with discipline said that they can go home because the head teacher let us go. Therefore, some children decided that this is actually the case. So, the whole class went to the locker room and there this boy told the nanny that the head teacher “let us go”. About more than half class went home.
Sophie looked at this all in thought. How can they just leave school lessons?
But only a few conscientious and responsible students decided to stay at school and study. Sophie was among them.
Another teacher came to the class and began to study with the children.
Meanwhile, the nanny decided to go to the head teacher and ask if she let this class go home.
“This boy told me that you let them go,” the nanny said.
The head teacher looked sternly, and then said:
“Did you come up to me? Did I let you go? What is this anyway?! This is what a self- righteousness! After school lessons I’m waiting for you in my classroom.”
Sophie thought about it for a long time. At home she was praised for staying at school.
On Monday, when the teacher came at school, she found out everything. So, she took exercise books from those who left school on Friday and noted it for their parents. Also, the homeroom teacher said that leaving is just bad.

Tales from childhood: New buildings in the town.
Sophie lived in the suburb. Some people even called it a city. There you could get on a bus and get to the capital in ten minutes.
But the suburbanites were proud of what they had: parks, theatres, museums, cafes, and their own symbols. Little Sophie often saw her town in the school books. The history teacher would often tell the story of the suburb.
Sophie and her grandmother regularly went to parades and celebrations in the center of a small suburb.
One day, Sophie noticed that construction had begun.
"Grandma, look here are building new buildings," little Sophie said.
"Yes, new interesting places will soon be built here," granny said.
Three months later, beautiful buildings and symbols of the city appeared in the center of the suburb.
Once at school, the students and the teacher decided to discuss these new buildings. Sophie said that she liked it. Others liked them, too. Also, the teacher said that there are beautiful places in her village.

Tales from childhood: Festive poster.
The school asked to make a poster for an important holiday. Sophie had her own idea, but she didn't tell anyone.
At home, she took a large sheet of paper, pens, and pencils. Little Sophie drew beautiful landscape with sky and plants. She loved creative subjects. Sophie was very keen on the process that she forgot about everything.
Then she put her work in her school pack. Little Sophie was very proud of herself! This poster was important for her.
"Well done!" the teacher said.
She was glad that the teacher appreciate her work.

Tales from childhood: Useful day.
"You must care about the place you live," the school teacher said.
Little Sophie thought about these words for a long time. Indeed, the place where a person lives should be important for them.
Over the weekend Mrs. M. suggested that those who wanted to go to the beach, could go check it out. If necessary, then put the beach in order.
Sophie decided to go there. She wanted to support this idea and take care of this place.
On the beach they collected thrashes. Sophie and the others felt proud!
"Well done!" Mrs. M. said.
"I'm very proud of you!" Sophie's mother said.
Sophie has done a really important job!

Sophie had several friends in her school. But Johnny was her good friend. They walked together during holidays.
Some children in the class noticed that Sophie and Johnny are very close friends. It was true.
Once Johnny was talking to the boys about who likes whom.
"You like Sophie," Johnny's friend said.
"Yes, I like her, because she is a very kind girl. Also, she knows how to listen to people and talk politely," Johnny said.
Sophie hadn't discussed with anyone that she liked Johnny. Sophie was just in love with this guy.
Classmates continued to be close friends.

Tales from childhood: Visit to the factory.
Beth and her classmates had special invitations. They were invited on a tour. Teenagers should visit a confectionery factory. The teachers allowed the students to take their relatives and friends with them.
Sophie and Johnny were guests on this tour. Beth decided to take her younger brother and his classmate friend.
Little Sophie was very glad about it! She wanted to see how to cook her favorite chocolate sweets.
Johnny was happy, too. He wanted to see a bun machine.
On their day off, everyone gathered and went to the factory.
Entering the building, Sophie smelled a very pleasant smell. It smelled like fresh baked goods. She liked jam buns.
The children were shown how to cook sweet food. The workers told them about the work of pastry chefs.
History of this confectionery factory was told to children and teenagers.
Also, they were treated to sweets and buns.
"Today is a sweet day," Sophie said.
"Yes, I agree with you," Johnny said.

Tales from childhood: The cuckoo.
Sophie was a middle school student. On that day her class had a biology lesson. Teacher told about animals in the forest.
Children listened very carefully. The teacher told about birds.
"A cuckoo is a bird that tosses its eggs to other nests," the woman said.
Little Sophie pondered these words. Some other birds are taking care of the cuckoo chicks. And the mother leaves her cubs.
Homework was like this: watch the cuckoo and its new "family".
Sophie and her grandmother saw a large cuckoo chick and another small bird. These birds flew to them in the garden at their summer home for a week. It was interesting for little Sophie. A small bird was feeding a large cuckoo cub.
Sophie suddenly remembered how her mother had watched the TV program. Then she called one woman a "cuckoo" because she abandoned her child.
At school, Sophie talked about the cuckoo and his new "mother". It was a discovery for her. Strange things happened in life.

Tales from childhood: People.
Sophie and her family had a domestic telephone. Sometimes mother and granny called somebody.
Little Sophie talked with her classmates. Kids exchanged phone numbers between each other. It was very comfortable. If somebody forgot to write homework. Or if child was ill for a long time, then teacher called their family.
"I want to call Johnny. I want to know about next school excursion," Sophie said.
It was important call for her and her friend. At this moment Sophie understood that Johnny is near. When she heard his voice Sophie feel it.
She met Johnny in the school next day. He was close to little Sophie.

Tales from childhood: Families.
Lara was a strange child. Her behavior was unusual for other children. At the same time little Lara didn't understand many things.
Her parents had their own life. Lara saw them very rarely. Though her father lived in a neighborhood street he didn't want to know her. Or Lara's mother didn't want to see her ex-husband.
Little Lara had a friend in the yard. His name was Teddy. Teddy's parents weren't together. But his father paid attention to him. He took little Teddy to elementary school. During the weekends they went to the circus, park, and cafe. Son loved these moments with his Daddy.
Sophie was very proud that she knew the truth about her family. Mother told all her daughter.
Lara asked her grandfather again about her father.
"Where is my father? Please, tell me the truth. I don't want to believe you." she said.
Grandfather didn't say anything. He decided he blabbed very early.
"Why do other families have fathers? But our family doesn't have him?" thought little Lara.
She decided to ask it her mother.

Tales from childhood: Julia's life.
"I had a good student," the history teacher said.
"It was several years ago. She was very active. This student often played in performances. Also, she was a volunteer before graduation," the teacher continued.
Little Sophie knew this girl. It was Julia. Children heard many good things about her.
"Julia's grades were high," the principal said.
At the same time, the teacher showed the children her own school notes. Everything was written in beautiful handwriting. The teachers and the principal were proud.
After school, Julia studied in college. There she met Anton and friends. But just Anton became Julia's best friend. Maybe their friendship was more than simple friendship.
Sophie and her classmates saw Julia. She went somewhere. Julia had a handbag. She called someone on her cell phone.
"Julia is an amazing young woman!" Beth admired.
Maybe she was a good example for Beth.
On the weekend Sophie saw Anton and Julia in the center of town. They walked together. At this moment little Sophie understood that someone is always an example for another person.

Tales from childhood: Our heroes!
It was a spring morning. Sophie went to school with red flowers. It was a gift for veterans.
“Give flowers to strange people! It’s strange!” a stupid boy said.
“These people gave a peace for us,” the teacher said.
Little Sophie and Johnny went to congratulate a veteran. This old woman worked in a school. She was short and her position was modest. But the veteran went through the whole war! She worked and fought.
“Congratulations!” the children said.
The school worker was very glad! It was important for her. She smiled.
During break time high school students cared for the veterans. Little Sophie and her classmates saw them in Assembly Hall.
Also, children told about their grandparents. Little Sophie was proud of her granny.
Next day Sophie visited a parade in her town. She understood many serious things.
“I think that veterans accomplished a feat,” little Sophie said.
“Yes, it’s true,” Sophie’s mother said.
