Tales from childhood: Dresses, blouses, and sweaters.

Mother gave money to Sophie and granny. So, they went to the shop. Little Sophie had to chose clothes for herself. She knew what things she wanted.

When they arrived to the place, Sophie saw a beautiful pair of shoes. But she remembered that she had a similar pair in the wardrobe. Afterwards, Sophie noticed a comfortable sweater with patterns. Blue dress was very beautiful! Beige blouse looked nice, too.

At the end little Sophie decided to buy comfortable sweater with patterns and blue dress. These clothes were very needed for cold time and holidays.

Grandmother said OK and they paid for it all. Mommy was glad for her daughter.

Now Sophie had new and important clothes in her wardrobe.

Why do I like fashion of the 1950s?

I like fashion of the 1950s because this period was very beautiful! There were many long skirts, dresses, hats, and gloves. Prints with polk dots and flowers were also popular. Fashion icons of that time wore ballet flats and heels.

Many of these clothes became classic for us. Famous women of that time such as: Grace Kelly, Marilyn Monroe, and Audrey Hepburn did a lot for modern fashion.

I have several clothes and shoes from 1950s in my wardrobe.

Rococo.

Rococo art style was popular in Europe, from XVII until XVIII centuries. This type has similarities with Baroque. Both art style featured luxury.

Rococo manifested in many areas at the time. Philosophy, music, architecture, painting, theatre, design.

In central and western Europe rich people had big and luxurious furniture. Large mirrors with large cutouts. The backs of chairs and table legs were of gold or other precious material.

In Rococo paintings were painted with less bright colors than Baroque. Example, Marie Antoinette a la Rose by Elisabeth Vigee-Lebrun, 1783.

Architecture was known for luxury. Buildings were built in the style of a lot of wealth. Also sculpture had many beautiful features, even if there was little.

In fashion were big and wide dresses with radiant colors popular. Wigs were still in fashion.

P.S. It ended another era of beauty and wealth. Then will be a new era.

Pictures of this era were bright. Example, Still-life by Josefa de Obidos. In Baroque architecture, popular was luxury. Baroque and Classicism have similar features.

Example, the Church of Saint Susanna at the Baths of Diocletain.

Baroque style was big on large premises. Furnitures were big, too. Mirrors with frames, chairs with luxurious backs, huge beds.

In music were popular composers such as Johann Sebastian Bach, Antonio Vivaldi, Claudio Monteverdi.

Fashion of Baroque looked rich. Big dresses and wigs were very popular. Rich women used make up.

P.S. Baroque created a path for modern art.

Halloween.

31 October-this day is when Halloween is celebrated. This holiday also named All Saints' Eve. Halloween is celebrated in the United States of America and other English speaking countries.

Several days before this holiday in shops appear pumpkins, scary costumes, strange sweets. Also people put on their houses plastic skeletons, witch hats.

One of tradition of halloween is trick-or-treating. At evening, little children knock the doors and say "trick-or-treat" and people must give them a sweet.

Halloween costumes are very interesting. Girls can wear princess or witch dress. Boys skeleton or superman. Decorations of holiday are interesting too. Ghosts, plastic skulls, witches, and pumpkins. Last is giving vent to imagination.

Halloween food. It's very scary-looking. Example, witch fingers. This can be a cookie. Dough formed fingers, almond "replaces" nails. But it is still edible flavor.

TV can show horror movies. But halloween isn't official holiday. Students go to school on this day.
