Atlantis.

Atlantis (Ἀτλαντὶς νῆσος) (Atlantìs nêsos) means 'island of Atlas'. This place was called after the Titan (Τιτᾶνες) (Titán) Atlas (Ἄτλας) (Átlās).

Atlantis was a fictional island country. There are many different myths and legends about this island.

Scientists in different periods of history wrote about Atlantis. The ancient Greek philosopher Plato (Πλάτων) (Plátōn) was one of them.

Great people: Socrates.

 Socrates (Σωκράτης) was a philosopher in Ancient Greece. He was born in 470 B. C., in Athens. His parents were Sophroniscus and Phaenarete.

Socrates studied ethics, too. His era was Ancient Greek philosophy. Plato (Πλάτων), Xenophon (Ξενοφῶν), and Aristippus (Ἀρίστιππος) were students of Socrates. 

Philosopher had his own ideas, such as: Socratic paradox, Socratic method, Socratic dialogue, and etc.

Socrates had wife and children.

He died in 399 B. C. in Athens.

Ethics.

Ethics (ἠθικόν) means "moral nature" in Greek language. This science is a part of another study philosophy.

In Ancient Greece Plato and Socrates studied ethics. So, science about human behavior had a long and interesting history.

Ethics had a Golden Rule: "the principle of treating others as you want to be treated."

Students study this science during school lessons. Also, ethics can be part of social studies. Teachers teach children good behavior.

Etiquette had many rules about society and relationships. What can and can't people be asked about. How to start conversations in a place. Good manners are important for etiquette and ethics.

This science changed through history. Many different aspects had their own unique rules for behavior.

Philosophy.

Philosophy (φιλοσοφία) is a study about knowledge and the mind. The word means "a love of wisdom" from Greek language.

Many different scientists of periods were interested in philosophy. Countries had unique views about world. Plato, Socrates, and Confucius were philosophers.

Also, philosophy created many other sciences, such as: sociology, ethics, aesthetics, psychology, and etc. People studied something with philosophical views.

This science can help make logical conclusions. Many religions have philosophical aspects.

Since ancient times people wanted to ask questions about life and the universe. Philosophical views have changed throughout history.

This science has influenced art and architecture in the countries. Philosophers wrote books, created paintings.

Students study philosophy during school lessons or in university.

Great people: Hippocrates.

Hippocrates of Kos or Hippocrates II was a scientist in Ancient Greece. He was born in c. 460 B. C. His father was Heraclides.


Philosopler studied medicine during the Classical Greek era. Hippocrates wrote about this science. He did many important things for medicine. Also, scientist was known as The Father of Western Medicine. Hippocratic Oath is a doctor's oath.


Greek scientist studied phycics, philosophy, and writing, too. Hippocrates started treating diseases. Plato and Aristotle wrote about this doctor.


Hippocrates died in c. 370 B. C.

Great people: Aristotle.

Aristotle was born on 384 B. C. He was a philosopher in Ancient Greece. Aristotle was a student of Plato and teacher of Alexander, the Great. Philosopher had his own interests, such as: ethics, music, poetry, biology, logic, and etc.

Aristotle's period was the Classical period. Philosopher did many important things for the Western philosophy. He had different views on the things than other philosophers.

One of his ideas was Theory of the soul. Also, Aristotle wrote about sciences. The philosopher said wise aphorisms and his quotes are still known.

Aristotle died on 322 B. C.

Great people: Plato.

Greek philisopher was born in 428 B.C.E. Plato was famous as teacher of Aristotel and student of Socrates.

Philosopher did a lot for ancient philisophy. Many of them are still true for us. For example, platonic love.

Also, Plato travelled in Ancient Greece and made many discovers for philosophy. He wrote many books.

Plato died in 348 B. C. E.
