Ice age.

Ice age is a period in history of Earth. In that time climate changed on our planet. The temperature became lower in different places.

There were many ice ages: the Huronian (2.4-2.1 billion years ago), Cryogenian (850-635 million years ago), Andean-Saharan (460-430 million years ago), Karoo (360-260 million years ago), and Quaternary (2.6 million years ago-present).

During these periods landscapes and Earth's surface changed. Ice aged influenced many different things on our planet.

At the end of these events some animals became extinct, such as: saber-toothed cats, the mastodons, giant ground sloth, wooly mammoth, and other.

Homo sapiens appeared. Humans created new tools for survival in a cold climate. Also, ancient people developed agriculture.

Geology is a science of study ice age. Scientists named geologists study these important periods. They found plants and animals in large glaciers.

Tales from childhood: Frosty warm period.

Johnny and Sophie were glad to finish school lessons. Little Sophie went home with her mother. Beth and Johnny called their father Mr. Theodor. Father was at work but he took the children home.

Tomorrow the school day was cancelled due to frost. Mr. Theodor left Beth and Johnny at home. Father said that they must do homework and "follow plan." So, he went to work.

Children felt independent. Also, Beth noticed that their home is a comfortable place. These were warm moments.

Ten days later Beth and Johnny returned to school. They had pleasant memories about these winter days.

Tales about childhood: A dangerous trek.

(This is my own short story).

Once in early spring tree girls, classmates from elementary school decided to go to the river after classes. Sophie, Kate, and Anne are made in good relations, girls are best friends. It's proposed to Kate, Anne supported, Sophie hesitated but after agreed.

When children arrived to the river girls saw thin ice. Kate stood on the ice. Then Anne joined her friend.

Only Sophie stood on the bank. Little girl seriously pondered her act. But sudden... Anne's feet were in the cold water. Kate stopped jumping and fell. Anne was already waist-deep in the river and crying.

At this moment Sophie was in panic. She didn't know what to do. Several seconds later girl cried "Help!".

Simple man responded to the children's cries and saved them.

When the girls returned home their families scolded them. So Sophie, Kate, and Anne will remember this day for the rest of their life.

Literature. Part fifteen.

"The Selfish Giant" by Oscar Wilde.

Once upon a time the Giant had a garden. Children usually played there after school. When the Giant returned, he forbade the children to enter his garden. He was selfish. So children couldn't play in the garden.

Several months later when Spring should have come, it was still Winter in the Giant's garden. Cold and Freeze were very glad of it. Summer wasn't coming, too. Not far from his garden chidren played during warm seasons. Spring and Summer didn't come only to the Giant.

One day he saw children on the tree, they were with leaves. Just one boy couldn't sit on the tree. The Giant helped him.

So he became a kind person. Children played in his garden again. The Giant missed the boy who helped.

Just many years later he found him in the garden. Little boy called the Giant to his garden-heaven.

Children found dead Giant under the tree.
