Age of Discovery.

Age of Discovery, also known as Age of Exploration began from XV to XVII centuries. On this period people did a lot of discoveries in other continents.

Christopher Columbusreached the New World in 1492. It was a very important for history. Many years later people found new land in the world. People wanted to find goods for themselves.

Every country of the New World has its own history.

Italian explorer Marco Polo visited China in XIII century. He saw another civilization in the world. He found new things in this country. So, new foods and things from China appeared in  Europe, such as: ice cream, crane, noodle, and etc.

Maps have changed after discoveries of new countries. Ships were needed and important for marine voyages.

Christopher Columbus.

(This is essay by my brother).

Christopher Columbus was an Italian explorer famous for discovering America. He was born on October 30, 1450 in Genoa, Republic of Genoa (now part if Italy).

He wanted to sail for India, but not in the direct route. Columbus believed that Earth was round and wanted to get to India from the other side. Portuguese government declined Columbus' request to fund this expedition, but the nation of Crown of Castile granted it.

So, on August 3, 1492, Christopher Columbus departed to India with three ships: Santa Maria, Pinta, and Nina. On October 12, 1492, Columbus landed on what he at first thought was India, that's why the natives are called Indians. But later Columbus realised that he discovered the New World. He returned to Spain on March 15, 1493, and the word about discovery of the New World spread rapidly.

Christopher Columbus went on three more voyages to America, where he found new cities, new people, new goals. But, on his last expedition, his ship wrecked near Jamaica. He was stranded for a year until the rescue and retarned to Spain seriously ill on November 7, 1504. He died from his illness on May 20, 1506, at the age of 54.

History of Canada.

Canada is a country of the New World, in the North America. Until Europeans discovered the New World there were living native people.

The name translates as "villiage". After Christopher Columbus found American continent people from Great Britain and France began to move to a new land. That's why in Canada there are two official languages English and French.

Until XIX century country depended from Europe and had close ties. Europeans found here many new things. For example, native people engaged in hunting and argiculture. On July1, 1867 the country was named Canada.

Now the country is the world's second biggest in size. Canada participated in the World Wars. In 1965 there was a modern Canadian flag. With two vertical lines and red maple leaf.

In the south, country borders with the United States of America. Canada has cold climate. History of country continue today too.

Middle Ages.

Middle Ages (Medieval) was one of the hard periods in human history. In Europe, people forgot many important things such as science, civilization, washing, and etc.

Medieval period was during the fifth to fifteenth centuries. The New World still wasn't opened, Africa and Asia were first expericing civilization.

In this hard time, religion appeared. People began to believe in one God instead of many. Artists painted pictures and icons with new saints.

Also, during Middle Ages, people expericed a terrible disease. The bubonic plague called the "Black Death". This horrible ill killed several million people.

Church was very important for medieval people. They did everything to live in heaven. People didn't notice things which happened around.

In Middle Ages human survived crisis. It took several years to recover.

P.S. After Medieval period, began a new part of human history. But I will tell you about it next time.

History of Wyoming.

State of Wyoming is located to the West of the United Syayes, between two other states Colorado and Utah. The capital of  state Wyoming is Cheynne.

Before Chistopher Colombus' doscovery the New World in state lived Indians or Native Americans. But when Europeans discovered the USA they found this land.

At the beginning of XIX century during the Lewis and Clark Expedition, one of this member John Colter described lands of Wyoming. But all information was confirmed later, by other researchers.

Wyoming is known that in 1869 it allowed women to vote. Before it women didn't have right to vote. For that time it was very good.

Just on July 10, 1890 Wyoming became forty-fourth state in the United States of America. So Wyoming and his population saw many different events, including horrible wars: Civil War and World War II.

P.S. History of Wyoming continues today, too.
