Tales from childhood: Victory.


Sophie was a little pretty girl. She was seven-years-old child from 1-"A" grade of elementary school. Sophie had a lot of friends in her school and yard.

But Sophie had one big problem. Fear. She was afraid an active winter game named snowballs. Sophie's friends always played that game in snow winter days. Their cheeks were very red, breath was steamy, wet gloves, snow hats, trousers, and jackets. (Sophie's clothes were always clear). Just one pretty girl stood far from happy children.

One day Sophie decided to become a brave girl. It was a holiday morning. Blue sky and bright sky were in the street. Sophie tried to play with her friend Natalie. She felt cold fear when touched cold snow. Also, Sophie's hands trembled. But snowballs were little and soft. They played very good!

Little girl understood that she could defeat her fear. Sophie became a brave child and always played snowballs with big company.

Japan.

Timeline of Japanese history: Jomon Period (1400-300 B. C.), The Yayoi Period (400 B. C.-250 A. D.), Kofun Period (250-538), Asuka Period (538-710), Nara Period (710-794).

Each of these periods are important for Japanese history. For example, Buddism appeared during Asuka Period (538-710).

Japanese culture include art, mythology, literature, and philosophy. Also, civilization had own emperors and laws.

Ancient Japanese history has similarities with Ancient China.

Medieval and Early Modern Japan have many difference with ancient history.

Statues and sculptures could talk about ancient Gods.

Many buildings such as: temples, houses, and castles have traditional eastern design.

Ancient India.

India had an old history and culture. Warm climate allowed development for early civilization. Many important things were invented in Ancient India: numbers, chess, buttons, ruler, some medicine, shampoo.

Also, country had periods such as: Indus Valley civilization appeared (c. 2800 B. C.), Indus Valley civilization vanished (c. 1700 B. C.), Tribes entered into India from central Asia (c. 1500 B. C.), iron and alphabetic writing appeared in northern India (c. 800 B. C.), Buddhism and Jainism are founded (c. 500 B. C.), Alexander, the Great conquered the Indus Valley (327 B. C.), Bindusara, extended the Mauryan conquered into the central India (290 B. C.), Asoke became the Mauryan emperor (269 B. C.), a mission by Mahinda, introduced Baddhism to the island of Sri Lanka (251 B. C.).

Science was popular in Ancient India. Mathematics and astronomy were known in the country. Philosophy still studied by modern people.

Pictures and sculptures of Gods were famous in ancient civilization.

Ancient China.

Ancient China as other old civilizations, has its own language, laws, rulers, and culture.

Timeline of Ancient China: Xia dynasty (2070-1600 B. C.), Shang dynasty (1600-1046 B. C.), Zhou dynasty (1046-256 B. C.), Spring and Autumn period (722-476 B. C.), Warring States period (476-221 B. C.).

Confucius (551-479 B. C.) was a famous Chinese philosopher. He made a lot of things for ancient politics and philosophy. Confucius's words are still popular for modern people. Such as:

"I hear and I forget. I see and I remember. I do and I understand."

"A man who has committed a mistake and doesn't correct it is committing another mistake."

"Wherever you go, go with all your heart."

Also, China given us many important things such as: pasta, ice cream, umbrella, paper, compass, mechanical clock, silk, porcelain, cookware, and bake ware.

Imperators ruled in China many centuries. For example, during Qin dynasty (221-206 B. C.) was built famous sculpture the Terracotta Army.

Mesopotamia.

Mesopotamia was situated on the Tigris and Ephrates rivers. Babylon was the most famous city in this country.

Great civilization was here since ancient times. Two rivers were very important for people in Mesopotamia. Also, Tigris and Ephrates have related with Persian Gulf.

Ancient Mesopotamia was translated as "Land Between the Rivers".

Mesopotamia as other ancient civilization had important history periods such as: The first city-states gradually develop (C. 500-3500 B. C.), Writing begins to be developed (C. 3500), King Sargan of Akkad conquered the first empire in history (C. 2300), the city of Ur becomes the Centre of a powerful Mesopotamian state (C. 2100), King Hammurabi of Babylon conquers a large empire (1792-49), Babylonia is conquered by the Kassites (C. 1530), the Mitanni conquer northern Mesopotamia (C. 1500).

Country had own laws, language, culture, and kings.

Ancient Egypt.

Ancient Egypt was a great civilization in ancient times. This country had several important periods such as: Predynastic Period (C. 5000-3100 B. C.), Archaic Period (C. 3100-2686 B.C.), Old Kingdom (C. 2686-2181 B.C.), First Intermediate Period (2181-1991 B.C.), Middle Kingdom (C. 2055-1786 B.C.), Second Intermediate Period (1674-1549 B. C.), New Kingdom (C. 1567-1085 B. C.), Third Intermediate Period (C. 1085-664 B. C.), Late Period to Alexander's Conquest (C. 664-332 B. C.).

Each of this time is very important for our history. For example, during Old Kingdom of Egypt (C. 2686-2181 B. C.) people built Egyptian pyramids. Its the first and one of the seven Wonders of the Ancient World. Many tourists visit Egypt for this structures.

River Nile was very important for people of Egypt. Their Gods and mythology related with this river.

Pharaohs ruled this country. Wars with other ancient civilizations accrued.

Recipe of homemade porridge.

Ingredients:

Milk-500 ml
Porridge-10 table spoons
Sugar-2 table spoons
Salt-1/3 tea spoon


Add porridge cereals in milk and boil about 5 minutes.


Add sugar and salt in porridge. Mix food during boil.



If want you can add honey, jam, berries, fruits and/or dry fruits. Bon Appetit!

Hera raised the Lernaean Hydra because she wanted to kill Heracles. But could slay this monster.

Hydra had nine heads, just one of them was dead.

Iolans, Heracles's nephew helped him with his work. It was very hard. Monster had poison fumes.

Heracles cut the head with golden sword. So, Heracles made his second Labor.

Great people: Mark Twain.

Samuel Langhorne Clemens was born on November 30, 1835 in Florida, Missouri. He was the sixth of seven children to John and Jane Clemens.

In 1860s Samuel Clemens traveled around his country and the world. Also, he wrote articles in newspapers.

Several years later Samuel Clemens took pseudonym Mark Twain and wrote famous books. The Adventures of Tom Sawyer, Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, The Prince and the Pauper, Eve's Diary, and etc. Many of them became a classical literature. Students study Twain's novels.

In 1870 the writer married Olivia Langdon.

Mark Twain died on April 21, 1910 in Redding, Connecticut.

This novel is about memories of sixteen-year-old boy named Holden Caulfield. He lays in the hospital and remember his old school.

There are many people appear in Holden's thoughts. You can find teenage hardships in this book.

Holden Caulfield speaks about his classmates, friends, sister, and neighbor.

Also, The Catcher in the Rye is one of the best English-language novels of the XX century.
