Tales from childhood: Friends and classmates.

Johnny had an illness. He didn't appear in the classroom. Several days later scool teacher called Johnny's father. Mr. Theodor said that he was ill. His school teacher wished him health.

Sophie remembered that people should help those who are ill. She offered Kate to go to Johnny after classes. And wish him recovery.

Girls visited their friend and said good words to Johnny. Little Sophie and her classmate were very proud of themselves. Mr. Theodor was glad, too. His son had good friends.

Ten days later Johnny got rid of cold and came to school.

Tales from childhood: A cool boy.

Sophie often walked with her company. Suddenly in this palce a new boy arrived. He was nine years old. He had a small height, but he wanted to be cool. His name was Edward. Edward always showed off with children.

Beth and Jack didn't like this behavior. Little Sophie wanted to finish games with Edward. Natalie and Caroline understood him and talked about coolness.

Several days later Johnny siad to Edward that children in the yard will not play with him. Because Edward shows off all the time. He thought about his own behavior and style. May be Edward understood what he was a "cool" boy.

Later he decided to apologize before friends. So, Edward got a second chance.

Sophie and other children started playing with Edward because he changed his behavior.

Age of Discovery.

Age of Discovery, also known as Age of Exploration began from XV to XVII centuries. On this period people did a lot of discoveries in other continents.

Christopher Columbusreached the New World in 1492. It was a very important for history. Many years later people found new land in the world. People wanted to find goods for themselves.

Every country of the New World has its own history.

Italian explorer Marco Polo visited China in XIII century. He saw another civilization in the world. He found new things in this country. So, new foods and things from China appeared in  Europe, such as: ice cream, crane, noodle, and etc.

Maps have changed after discoveries of new countries. Ships were needed and important for marine voyages.

Poseidon.

Poseidon was a god of waters and Sea in Ancient Greece. His parents were Cronus and Rhea. Poseidon was Zeus and Hades brother. Also, god was responsible for earthquakes and horses.

God of waters had his own symbols: trident, dolphin, bull, and horse. Poseidon married Amphitrite and had children.

There are many myths and legends about this greek god of Sea and waters. Artists and sculptors created beautiful works of Poseidon.

Tales from childhood: Rain in May.

It was the last month of spring. Sophie, Jack, Beth, and Johnny walked on the bank of river. The weather was nice, especially for May. Blue sky, sun, and stuffy air.

Sophie thought about school. She passed difficult exams. Left to do the cleaning in the classroom and get school diary. Beth studied at 7th grade of middle school. She wanted to go to medical college. Also, she was a good example for Sophie and was friends with Jack.

Little Sophie laid in the tent with the bouquet of field flowers, Johnny was fishing in the river, Beth was sitting and talking with Jack. Good weather was important for this situation. But suddenly...

In the blue sky big and grey clouds appeared, the lightning flashed, thunder roared, it started raining. Children run to the bringe. They saw Mr. Theodor with several umbrellas. So, friends went to the village house. Beth and Johnny's father sheltered children.

Sophie heared thunder and saw water pouring. The lightning flashed through the window.

Old woman cooked pies and tea for children. Frineds were very happy. They felt warm.

Hour later the thunderstorm ended. Beth and Jack left the house. Soon, they returned with smile and called Sophie and Johnny. All of them saw beautiful rainbow on the sky. Sophie became happy on this May day despite the fact roads were muddy.

Andromeda.

Andromeda was a daughter of Cepheus and Cassiopeia. Her father was a king of Aethiopia.

Goddess was tied with chains to the rocks. Andromeda stayed there, but she was saved by Zeus's son. Perseus helped to Andromeda after the fight with mosnter Medusa.

They were married and had several children. Also, Andromeda became popular in arts, science, and culture. There are many stories, paintings, and movies about this goddess.

Victorian era.

Queen Victoria ruled the United Kingdom from June 20, 137, to January 22, 1901. This period was very important for history.

More than half of XIX century had different events. The Industrial Revolution was one of them. Many factories and machines appeared.

Discovery was part of history. So, many geographical objects have Victoria name. For example, Victoria is a capital of Seychelles.

Literature and science were also developed during Victorian era. Jane Eyre by Charlotte Bronte, Alice in Wonderland by Lewis Carroll, Oliver Twist by Charles Dickens. These are the books that became popular in the world.

Railway and trains appeared in XIX century. Fashion and architecture were both varied.

Great people: Charles Darwin.

Charles Robert Darwin was born on February 12, 1809, in Shropshire, England. He was the fifth of six children of Robert and Susannah Darwin.

Charles's mother died when he was eight years old. Since early childhood Darwin was interested in history and science.


Also, he studied at University of Edinburg. Charles Darwin studied medicine in this place.

From December 27, 1831, to October 2, 1836, the scientist took a second voyage of HMS Beagle. Darwin saw a lot of things in the world.

Charles Darwin created theory of evolution in nature. He wrote a book called On the Origin of Species.


The scientist was married to Emma Wedgwood. They had ten children.

Darwin died on April 19, 1882, in Kent, England.

Recipe of homemade Russian pryanik.

Ingredients:

Flour-500 g
Sugar-1 cup
Eggs-2
Butter-100 g
Sour cream-3 table spoon
Honey-1 table spoon
Salt-1 tea spoon
Baking powder-1 tea spoon


Mix sugar, salt, baking powder, and honey in one dish.




After add sour cream, eggs, and flour. Mix these ingredients.



Make a dough.


Warm up the often until 355 F. Cut dough.




Bake cookies about 10-15 minutes.

Literature. Part thirty six.

                                   Gulliver's Travels by Jonathan Swift.

This book was written in XVIII century and has four parts. Author described different problems for that time with humor and satire.

Lemuel Gulliver appeared in Lilliput country. People were very little for Gulliver. He looked like a giant. But liliputians had their own laws. Also, little citizens had a conflict with another country named Blefuscu.

War between this countries has begun because Liliput wanted to break egg by the small end while Blefuscu wanted to do it by the big. Gulliver understood that it was a stupid reason for the conflict. Many adventures happened with character in this place.

Brobdingnag was populated by a big people. Lemuel Gulliver was looked little to them. They used Gulliver as a toy. He lived with a queen of Brobdingnag. Also, he fought with big insects and animals. Gulliver understood many different things.

There are many movies and printings about this story. Novel was translated on many languages.
